I also think it's worth noting, and I don't mean this derogatorily to anyone, that as a species we tend to resort to claims of corruption and fraud to fill in the blanks of things we don't understand.
Our brains are hard wired to complete the pictures in our brains when we only have a partial understanding of what we see. This happens so often that we don't even know it's happening. Right now your brain is trying to predict the ending of this post.
When we don't understand why our product isn't moving faster, our brain searches for available explanations. If it cannot find one, it will make one.
My point is, while there may in fact be corruption in the FDA, it is likely less so than we think.
