Therein lies the end result GILD was looking for. They knew remdesivir wasn't going to cut it, but they had just enough data (the most ugly pig painted by the best make-up artists) and influence to make remdesivir the base drug. They'll get their slice of the pie even though most of the significant work is done by drugs like leronlimab.
The US is 243 years old. Corruption is rooted in our government and institutions. Hopefully, we'll get some people in charge soon who'll root out the corruption so that we can last another 200 years before its time to root out the corruption again.
