I thought it was very clear from the video. He ( and Kelly) exercised their stock options by purchasing the number of shares related to the options. He then sold his shares and made the payment to Samsung with the proceeds from that sale from his personal funds. He mentioned that he would take a big hit on taxes but he was willing to do it for the company, because if he didn't, they would lose their place in line with Samsung's manufacturing schedule.
