In my experience with clinical trials, the hospital/site is paid for getting patients in the trial (regardless of outcome) there is a payment for screening, visit one, visit 2 etc.
this is not just big pharma but all companies - I assume that CYDY pays its sites for participation.
Interestingly enough the patients are not paid.
That is what makes clinical trials so expensive. It is worse when you compare against a competitive drug because you need to pay your competitor for their drug.
Also remember for Cydy 1/3 of the patients are getting a placebo but they still pay the sites the fee because it is a blinded trial.
