Yes he said it in the context of his experience 30+ years ago and compared remdesivir to AZT which back then was really the first drug to help in the HIV fight .. But then went on to say that they are many other trials and shots at the goal going on which will be additional Opportunities to take the fight further and he was only talking about therapeutics ..no't vaccines

That's when he mentioned MABs and peer review ..he also said he discounted the Chinese remdesivir study (which as we know showed little efficacy) because it was not properly done to get to a designated target.
