I like to think that the FDA operates on a somewhat level playing field because it is their responsibility to the nation to insure that the best treatments are safe, effective, and available to our citizens. We can't overcome the media connections and news cycle that rushes to promote the big pharma companies- we just can't (now). What really irritates me is the appearance of a double standard in testing. Will the FDA push back and require Gilead to go through the same double blind trial that we were asked to travel, or will politicians and media apply enough pressure to get Remdesivir approved while remaining ignorant of better alternative drugs like Leronlimab. I really just can't get my head around any politician pushing an inferior product and suppressing another while people are dying.
