It is truly unfortunate that so many people are this intellectually incurious, that they would willingly consume poisonous substances without really researching them or at least consulting a doctor they know and trust. This is true, whether in Iran or in the US - or elsewhere.
Of course, many medicines and even necessary components of our daily diets (salt, etc.) do have levels beyond which they become toxic. That's why FDA-supervised clinical trials are needed.
