I see no reason you couldn't self-administer at home. After all, that's what HIV patients are expected to do. That's one of the big draws of the molecule and delivery system.
In reality, I see it like this for COVID-19. You have a consultation with a physician if you're presenting symptoms. They decide whether you likely have it or not - or better yet, hopefully a relatively quick and reliable test is developed in the near future - and they give you a dose while you're at the consultation. Send you home with instructions to stay at home and contact them if your symptoms worsen over the next three days. Possibly, depending on trial data, etc., they send you home with a dose for a week later.
I imagine that most cases caught early (mild/moderate symptoms) will not require more than one dose, between the calming of cytokine storms (reduces further damage) and normalization of immune function (allows your body to clear the virus more quickly). So... no self dosing at home needed. Quick jabs at the doctor's office, off you go, quarantine at home and call us if you can't breathe.
The beauty of a long-acting dosage... it's like it's tailor made for this situation. However, it puts the need for quick, accurate, reliable testing in sharp relief. Just my thoughts.
