You are right , nothing except vaccination prevents COVID , but I can tell you it is very helpful with many..
My best friend , internist in NJ told me yesterday , that in nursing home almost all residents are positive for COVID-19, she at the beginning putting patients on HCQ , and so far she had no patient in the hospital or on ventilator.
Yes anecdotal , not scientific prove but for now , I take it...
