Brilacidin will most likely be tested as a single agent and in a 2 drug combination.Resdemivir may still be a good choice as a 2nd drug with Brilacidin since their antiviral mechanism of action are different and may be complementary.
Brilacidin works by making openings "pores" in the viral coat whereas Resdemivir works by shutting down RNA transcription to stop viral replication. Brilacidin would open the protective coat and increase the penetration of Remdesivir. Thre action of the combination could in theory destroy the virus and prevent replication.
Obviously, future studies will be needed to confirm synergy
