I believe NP said the primary endpoint for severe patients is mortality at 2 weeks and 4 weeks.
Maybe with fewer variables to measure here, they need more patients to show significance since this is a binary outcome with no variables?
With regards to placebo, it seems unnecessary and inappropriate here. The only other possibility may be that we are actually seeing significantly less mortality in the US severe pts compared to elsewhere. NP said 85% in China, Cuomo said the ventilator is a death sentence. But now I am hearing 50% from many, and Fauci revised deaths downward to 60k total. Is part of the revision downward due to HCQ and media keeping quiet?, other factors? Virus mutating to weaker strain? Don't thing there are many pts on remdesivir and you can't combine trials anyway.
