If the majority are asymptomatic or mild with a very infectious condition , testing is of limited benefit. How many people would agree to be tested knowing there is no treatment( back in January), and that you go to jail for 2 weeks if you are positive. I speaking from human nature, not fully from science. Maybe if the gov guaranteed unemployment benefits during the quarantine period? Remember tracing a sick person's contacts targets a very small percentage of those exposed.
For testing to have value, you need a complete border shutdown back in January along with mandated testing and quarantine for all those entering To do that, it would have helped if China had been more upfront about the true morbidity and mortality. Does anyone actually see a border shutdown like that happening in a diverse country such as ours. I believe that POTUS is the only one who even considered it.
Just being realistic, not really disagreeing. Heck we can't even address illegal immigration openly. I don't know. Just IMO
