As a kid, I fell in love with Brookgreen Gardens and it was, for a while, one of the few places in the state where you could see alligators. Fortunately, their population has rebounded and you can now see gators in many areas of the state.
The USS Shangri-La was a sister ship to the USS Yorktown which is on display in Charleston. Both were/are Essex class carriers.
For many that flew the SB2C Helldiver, the SB2C stood for son of a bitch second class. LOL
