Just to make a nuisance of myself the sentence "I will approve the drug only if the mean of the resulting death rate is such with so and so deviation" should properly read "I would not disapprove the hypothesis that a drug with a mean of xxx and a standard deviation of zzz is of statistical significance and different from the placebo."
