Ashley Parker: Advisers told Trump he 'will own these deaths'
Anyone who thinks this is inaccurate, reflect; heavy lifting though that may be. The right would insist Obama own it IF he'd said and done everything Trump has from the beginning of this crisis. And about 2,500 American deaths ago too.
That's the reason Trump backed off. Not for some imaginary friend, or he suddenly found empathy after seeing bodies lined up at Elmhurst Hospital.
His campaign folks told him he is going to own these deaths. They told him No one is blaming him for the economy tanking, but they will blame him if he pushes to re-open businesses and the infection rates go up and bodies start piling up.
This is all political as usual.
