Leronlimab will not work for PREP in Covid-19 like it may in HIV.
SARS-CovV2 enters cells through a different receptor than HIV. Leronlimab blocks the HIV receptor, so it appears that it could work in PREP for HIV.
Leronlimab appears to work in COVID-19 by modulating the body's immune response to prevent an overreaction, sometimes known as a cytokine storm, which is what causes lung damage and results in death.
