I'm not ready to jump on the business as usual bus, but it is not a cut and dried as trying to save everyone. People are going to die of the virus, and people are going to die from deteriorating socioeconomic conditions. How long can you totally lock it down and what is the cost- not just economically, but socially and health wise? So many out there are living paycheck to paycheck and with the coming 25% unemployment, you introduce a whole new set of stressers on families who can't put food on the table or afford a place to live. How long? Well, let's just say that I'm just glad I'm not the one who has to make that call.

Tom Friedman, about as level- headed of a writer is there is in this country, had an intriguing opinion piece in the NY Times yesterday where he contemplated the choices. Worth a read.
