ARDS is also respiratory complication..
There are different degrees of respiratory complications.And we trying to prevent the very severe , ARDS , if possible...

But I am sure doctors will try to all those very sick patients also if medicine will work.

If it will work , it will be preventing further lung scaring.

Whatever permanent scars some patients will already have , nothing will help this.

And depending how much of fibrosis ( scaring ) particular patient will have at the end, patient will survive or not , and with what breathing capacity.
