Ohm you’re misunderstanding a major aspect of the CDC’s H1N1 information: the estimates for H1N1 cases are only estimates, not confirmed cases. Therefore, the estimated death rate (your .024%) would be much lower than the known death rate (confirmed deaths/confirmed cases) because the known death rate DOESN'T include unconfirmed cases.
The death rate for the Corona Virus would also be much lower if every single infected person was identified. But that’s not realistic because of the cost and time associated with doing it. Therefore, we only have the known death rate (known deaths/confirmed cases).
