So I came across a couple videos about antibody based diagnostic tests claiming to be point of care, simple to use with results in 15-30 minutes. I felt a panic in my stomach. I did some searching and came across two Companies offering these tests: BioMedomics and Advaite. Upon further investigation, I realized I did not have a thorough understanding of how the N-Assay works. I will lay out my understanding of the differences between the tests by the two previously mentioned companies and the N-Assay.
Kits by the two companies mentioned above detect for the presence of antibodies associated with COVID-19. The minimum conclusion for the presence of antibodies means you were infected. It doesn't necessarily mean you are infectious as the virus may not be present. These tests are useful to screen people for further observation and confirmation.
The N-Assay will detect the virus. As stated in 2015:
"...researchers have confirmed the potential efficacy of NanoLogix’s N-Assay as a rapid indicator for the presence of the current-threat strain of the Ebola virus...."

The N-Assay will tell you if you are infectious or not. I think this is a valuable feature as it would eliminate time spent in quarantine waiting to see if those with only antibodies detected develop flu-like symptoms.
It all sounds familiar so I think I understood it all before, but maybe not so crystal-clearly as I do now. Anyway, keeping everything crossed.
