Love him or hate him Trump did a masterful job of bringing together leaders from industry and the administration to lay out a master plan for cutting red tape, mobilizing the government and industry, and just giving the country hope that we are going to get through the Corona virus epidemic.

I am still pessimistic. We still have no treatment for the virus. All we can offer the critically ill is supportive care. While the containment strategies of quarantine, reducing contact and working from home are all sensible, we are still in the first round of a 15 round fight. I look for the infection and death rates to continue to increase over over the next weeks both in the US and worldwide.

Our best hope is antiviral treatments.Hopefully the resources given to researchers will result in treatment protocols to help stem the virus spread and prevent pulmonary failure.

Of course I am still optimistic Brilacidin will pass the initial testing and begin clinical trials soon. I am hopeful the focus on research will be fruitful and several treatments will be developed.
