But think about it... People aren't traveling. They aren't renting hotel rooms or buying airline tickets (one airline has already collapsed and others are slashing routes). People aren't going to the movies. They aren't attending weddings. They aren't dining out. And that just scratches the surface.
If prolonged, the people who work in those industries stop getting paid. They might lose their jobs or, at minimum, they spend less and save more.
What happens if schools close and parents are forced to take time off? Or pay for childcare they can't afford.
Italy banned many things already (e.g. public events, wedding, funerals, etc.) until mid April. Again, hopefully the hysteria dissipates and things begin getting back to normal very quickly. Unfortunately though, it seems the infection has really only just begun stateside.
