I just watched a live interview with Alex Azar- Health and Human Services Secretary.
They are eliminating any criteria for getting tested for the Coronavirus (CV). If a patient can get a doctor to request the test, it will happen. IMO this will drastically drive up the amount of CV instances documented and will drive down the fatality rate as milder and moderate cases will be reported. Over 1M tests are currently available and production is ramping up quickly.
Regarding treatment Azar reiterated that a vaccine will take 12-18 months and that a phase 1 should start in 5 weeks. (IMO this is a best case scenario). Most importantly Azar stated that they are aggressively evaluating existing therapeutics and treatments that have met safety and efficacy standards.
