In California:
Long Term Capital Gains = 20% (Fed) + 14% (State) = 34%
Short Term Capital Gains = 37% (Fed) + 14% (State) = 51%
Not all my shares are Long Term.
I have always had in my mind that 50% will be taxes, especially as California State tax does NOT have a reduced Long Term Capital Gains tax rate.
