IPIX did not publicize how they calculated the initial doses. I am sure the GI consultant, Dr. Farraye, had a role in the initial dose calculations for the POC study for UP and they used the results of the UP study for the dose calculation in the BDD Brilacidin study.

In the next study I would expect another dose escalation study. Since the initial study showed no Brilacidin AE's and no systemic absorption, the study designers should feel confident in increasing the dose to find the optimal result ; hopefully before DLT.
