I have to disagree with you. I have written many PR releases, and a good PR person takes the information they are given and then fashions it into a meaningful, coherent document, which is then approved or rejected by the company.
Also, WHY IN THE WORLD would they hire a PR firm that is not somewhat familiar with science? You wouldn't hire a sports marketing PR firm for a job like this...
