GOP Panics Over Romney Vote
Republicans are raising the alarm that Mitt Romney ‘following his conscience’ and ‘taking his oath to God seriously’ could lead to the ruin of the GOP’s current policies.
“What next?”, asked one Republican senator. “Speaking the truth? Honouring oaths of office? Actually looking at facts?”
Romney is being excoriated by party colleagues who fear the idea of having a conscience could start a trend. Said another GOP office-holder: “We’ve worked tirelessly for three years now to rid the party of truth-tellers and fact-seekers. And now this nobody from Utah comes along and tries to destroy everything we’ve worked for.”
“After building our party upon a strong foundation of ignoring the truth, accepting lies as fact, excusing corruption, and turning a blind eye to the undermining of the Constitution and the rule of law, we Republicans will not tolerate those who think for themselves.”
Republicans who feel they are susceptible to developing a conscience have been urged to seek counselling immediately. “It’s a slippery slope,” opined one GOP leader. “It starts innocently enough. But before you know it, you stop believing the lies and the fact-less propaganda – at which point you can no longer claim to be a member of the party.”
Many Republicans balked at the notion that Mitt Romney was once a GOP presidential candidate, dismissing the idea as “fake news”.
