If you have SiriusXM radio, you can go to the website and listen to the show that was re-broadcast yesterday, about gut diseases. The doctors talked about how prednisone was a really bad strategy in the longer term, and that they were lots happier about biologics. Then a woman called in who was almost killed by a biologic, and another woman called in who has tried almost all of them and none of them worked -- but they did make her very sick (hospitalized).

The doctors, of course, pooh-poohed the concerns with biologics.

I go by the cockroach theory -- if one person made it to a call-in show like that, there are lots more out there who had the same problems with biologics.

By the way, don't be fooled by that image in the Mayo Clinic article. Crohn's disease can occur at ANY point along the gastrointestinal tract, not just where the stomach dumps into the intestine.
