Craig - Corona virus is not the same virus as influenza -flu ,
but producing similar symptoms .
Flu is generally more dangerous , but we have vaccination and Tamiflu which is helpful especially if taken early.
Coronavirus is common virus producing infection of upper respiratory track - nose , sinuses and throat.
Mostly not dangerous.
20% of common cold is produced by coronavirus.
Zoonotic coronavirus
is much more severe and producing more often and more severe pneumonia , and mortality.
We saw that in the past with SARS ,Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome , started in China , probably came from bats originally , about 14-15% fatality rate.For people older than 64 , mortality estimated about 50%.
and
MERS, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome , came at the beginning from camels , than human to human , started in Saudi Arabia , about 35% of reported patients died.
Hopefully this outbreak will not be very severe , but it must be taken very seriously.
I heard doctor on TV saying that mortality with present coronavirus is estimated at about 3% , I remember this was exact estimation for SARS at the beginning.
Really we only know after outbreak is finished.
This is a new virus just mutated from animal to human , and then from human to human..
We don't know how it will behave , no , not to panic , but definitely be as ready as possible.
Seems that couple of patients now , with this coronavirus improving with combination of high dose of Tamiflu together with protease inhibitors
I am sure in the lab they testing now all antiviral drugs to see if something is working.
They also working very intensively on vaccination..
Hopefully they also testing our Leronlimab.
