Possibly, sure, but if he misspoke...well...that's not a positive for the spokesman of a company. As I have suggested, a simple weekend course in public speaking would do wonders for him. Speak slowly, clearly, choosing your words carefully as you disseminate information that is of critical importance.
And just so no one loses their mind, this has NOTHING to do with not being a native english speaker or having an accent, we must ALL speak in such a way if we wish to convey information in the most efficient, effective way possible.
