You are probably right, however I believe that in the case of Finesand the motivations where different. I say this because I have respect for those that do DD. She had a detailed valuation model (I didn't necessarily agreed with them but where well crafted) with results spanning long-term scenarios.
Is she was flipping cents, why go to the extreme of building such a detailed forward-looking infrastructure ?? .
What I noticed is that she was disenchanted with the speed things where going (maybe had spent already lots of time and effort and was not seeing the results) and had a severe case of the "trees not letting her see the forest.".
AND, unfortunately, I think she left personality opinions about NP (a no-no in investing) get in the way and cloud her judgement.
She must be kicking herself … so close and yet, so far ….
