It's not the job of presidents to pay companies to do anything; that's the kind of government interference in the economy that righties usually decry.

The South benefited as much as it was able to from the Clinton economy, rising tide lifts all boats and such. States DID provide incentives for foreign auto companies to create manufacturing jibs.

But, a State can only benefit as much as its education, health and infrastructure enable.

Those are Southern handicaps relative to the rest of the nation that no president has been able to make much of a dent in.

Blaming a president from AR, and a VP from TN, for not solving long festering Southern economic ills is ludicrous.
