There is lot's of comparison info on the web about TA vs fundamental research. Fundamental wins out long term but day traders and swing traders use charts extensively and affect short term pricing a ton.

The biggest problem people make is having emotion involved. Very hard not to when money is at stake. Fighting the overall trend is another complication.
