Patents make people feel warm and fuzzy. The real value is frequently far less than people imagine. Thomas Edison had a patent on the version of the light bulb he invented.

He said that he never made any money off of the light bulb patent because of the constant expense of bringing lawsuits to defend it.

Patents also require that you document your process well enough that someone versed in the art can reproduce your system. Given the lack of respect of certain major countries in the world for intellectual property exposing all of the JBI technology in a patent may not be very  wise.
