Re: TechGuru #12153
Thank you.

The EMT, the ability for cancer cells to switch from wanting to pack to together to make a tumor, to wanting to move, to then when arriving at new metastatic site, switching back to wanting to come together again to form a new tumor, I have seen a little before.

This switch back and forth, some have listed ccr5 as a requirement, which is why metastatic cancer cells gain ccr5 when the original tumor might not.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30474221
High expression of CCR5 in melanoma enhances epithelial-mesenchymal transition and metastasis via TGFβ1

In the abstract:
Quote:
Importantly, CCR5 was required for maintenance of the mesenchymal phenotype of metastatic melanoma cells.

The circulating CAML read was new to me, it is a very recent discovery. In my opinion, it would be easier understand for people wanting a quick answer if they had called these circulating tumor enabling cells, CTECs and CTCs. Apparently not just cancer cells leave the original tumor and make their way to the new tumor site, but other cells they enable and aid the cancer cells. I highly suspect through the same ccr5 pathway, but I haven't researched it yet.
