When I was a child, the vast majority of my male relatives were WW!! vets and had served in one capacity or another. Very few of them ever said too much about their experiences during the war. However, I did have one old uncle you could get to talk a little bit. Just one shot of hooch would loosen up his tongue and he would tell stories that ran the gamut from horrible to hilarious. His days after the war were spent as a farmer, chicken fighter, and moonshiner. I really miss that old guy.
