Z_Smith , after he look at some of this information I think as Docj suggested , you could contact your friend with Dr Patterson. ( we will all help you with this if needed )
This will be a perfect way to approach this situation ..
If Dr Patterson research will not convince your friend , than IMO it is your friend problem...)

(like Dr Patterson newer discovery now that CCR5 on macrophages surrounding tumor , is even more important that CCR5 in tumor cells itself )
