NP and BOD are confident this going to be around for a long time. That's the only reason I see they are trying to sign a 12 year contract.
This long term is done to prevent a hostile takeover. In case some shareholders want to sell for cheap.
They want to be running a company worth 10s of billions.
They are gambling on it. Most have their money in it.
If it get approved soon... They did the best for your pocket in a long run.
