Re: trding #8862
I’m decided to do some tax “harvesting”. Buying now in 30s. If price doesn’t go up end of year significantly, I’ll sell old shares bought at higher price point, taking the loss to go against my gains in other stocks. Basically resetting my price to the lower value of 33c and using other gains to make up for the loss, eliminating the taxes needed to be paid for those. The disadvantage is it might reset my 1 year hold on capital gains, I.e, if I sell the new shares before 1 year, I pay income tax... so I am committed to holding those new shares longer.

Something you might consider if you are in a similar situation. Without other gains to absorb the loss, I believe you are limited to $3000 loss, but not sure.
