I can understand the confusion with the wording "return to the treasury " if you look at it one way, the total shares authorised by the board remains the same, hence the value of the company remains the same. The ability for Joe to spend or otherwise utilize the shares is removed and they are now under board control. At least that's how I see it. No bump in the share price because the only thing that changed is control of the shares, but then I'm not ths sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to the market.
