Blue jays raised by people make great pets. Years back, our neighbors found a baby blue jay, Sydney, and raised it to adulthood. Sydney stayed with the family about two years but one day just disappeared. I have always thought that Sydney found himself a honey and eloped.

Sydney loved water sprinklers and would fly to whatever yard in the neighborhood had one turned on. He always got himself watterlogged to the point that he couldn't fly and would have to walk back home.
