Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, was ridiculed when he bought the team for around $140MM for grossly overpaying for the franchise. Today it is valued at a little over $5B.
Jerry's response was that everything he has ever acquired he was deemed to have overpaid for, but each and every one went ballistic in value.
That is why I find no BP willing (yet) to step up and pay a fair value for either B or K pipeline, or both, to secure total control of them and see them go far and away above in value for what they paid in the relatively near future a complete mystery. Maybe BPs don't have the vision, or the ability of an individual owner, to make the call and roll the dice.
