I remember reading about scurvy and other food related problems with the early explorers to "The New Land". They were the hero's of their day, like pro athletes are now. So out of respect for them they got "cake" (white flour) in stead of whole wheat flour. And in their day the nutrients taken out to make white flour were not chemically added back in. Thus, being nice to their hero's killed many of them with "cake"
