The way I see it is hotels have two choices.
1. They could either lock down user access to the internet using URL filtering and packet scanning.
2. Offer something to guest that can protect their devices (endpoints) themselves.
Locking down the network would probably be ineffective, cost a LOT more, and piss off the guest. Since most of the traffic will be SSL (https) encrypted from the websites to the guest's computer the hotels would have to block sites directly (like porn sites). There is also the guest's not understanding how it works and some will bitch about privacy concerns.
Offering to protect the endpoints is a better solution for hotels IMHO. It also exposes users to the product and they may research and buy it after their stay (bonus).
