Wash trades are used to simulate selling, lower the share price and lower the FINRA short percentage. One other option that has been used in the past though not nearly as much since multi million dollar fines started being handed down is to mismark the trades calling short sales as being long. Time will tell all but IPIX longs are not stupiid and that is what they would have to be to sell after yesterday's news. Go IPIX!!!
