I did, some of them were older, but it doesn't mean they're not working in that direction. Many years ago IMGN worked on a partnership that took about 3 years to put into place, it would have occurred much earlier, but they had a failure in a freezer that had sufficient drug to do the trial, and when they contracted to have another company make it, they failed to do so. Ultimately they were using specific oriental mice to create the drug, and they had to do it themselves, starting with acquiring them again. When they finally got it done the partnership was announced. I believe they were weeks away from not making payroll. You never know what will delay a trial, I'm sure it was a cryogenic unit that failed, but really there is no excuse for it happening, and one key person left the company. Of course we've all heard of similar things happening where people have preserved eggs for future implantation, etc and barring an unavailability of liquid nitrogen from anywhere, it should never happen.
Believe it or not, at City of Hope they actually send someone to wherever stem cells are coming from to bring them there in the allotted time. In my case, because of a prolonged cold the cells were preserved and frozen cryogenically, that required a Hickman Catheter, which has a larger diameter, because of the size of the preservative that must flow in with the stem cells. Months later the catheter, which my Dr. wanted maintained should I have some need for it, got infected, I spent several days in the hospital because of I had finished 4 of 8 courses of Chemo at Cedar Sinai, but while I was being treated in outpatient for the infection I had an appointment at City of Hope and my Dr. there choose a different course of action to the stem cells, so I never had the last 4 courses of chemo. Of course I had other chemo, but it was far less rigorous than being in the hospital for all of it.
I believe we both have investments in companies where much is going on under cover which eventually will be announced. I know that partnerships cannot be announced until the very last required signature, notary, whatever has occurred. I know of cases where one key person was on vacation and they had to wait, I didn't hear about it until well after it occurred, but that's the sort of thing that occurs, and some people go on vacation for over a month.
