And if the drug does turn out to be "the biggest anti-inflammatory drug of the '20's", what BP in their right mind would let that get away from them. And if Novartis IS aware of it, I bet other Novartis competitors are aware as well.

I don't believe 100 million upfront would even get them into the race. I bet it'll be much higher.
