I know the article didn't mention a specific company (whether that be CYDY, Akebai or someone else), but the message was still clear that they are looking to shake up the pharma market by structuring these style of deals.
Even without mentioning specifically, we know a similar style deal was inked with CYDY and announced in early April. IMO these types of deals will remove some of the upper hand large pharma currently has and allows small players like CYDY a better chance to bring their product to market and not settle for a unfavorable license deal with a stellar product strictly due to their balance sheet.
I'm sure there is some risk for Samsung by doing this, but they will do their DD and make calculated terms and IMO this only bodes well for us CYDY shareholders. A home run or two like CYDY will offset any losses from others as their risk is only a fraction of the $1B deal described by CYDY.
