Yes , angiogenesis is very important with development and growth of cancers ...
It is new blood vessels formation from pre-existing vessels..
Every part of body including tumors need good blood supply to function / grow .
We need this process in wound healing , formation of granulation tissue, etc..
But it is also step in the transition of tumors from benign to malignant .
This is why angiogenesis inhibitors are use often in treatment of cancers.
Many years ago it was noticed that tumors could not grow without angiogenesis , after some years they also noticed that some blood cancers cant grow without it also...
The most common angiogenesis inhibitor use is Avastin.
Many years ago it was discovered that Thalidomide also inhibits angiogenesis.
