The mouth is usually classified as upper GI. It's been many decades since I had embryology and gross anatomy but as I recall the embryological origins of the tissues are mouth to duodenum, duodenum to transverse colon, and transverse colon to anus. Similar but different. How similar and how different for drug function? Above my pay grade.
